Mischief Points and Match Size
See how student count affects mischief targets, item spawning, rescue time and teacher stamina in the officially documented Worst Class Ever demo updates.
What Mischief Points tell you
The demo uses a mischief requirement for the student side, and the October 19 patch explicitly changed that requirement when fewer students are playing. The key lesson is that the target is not safe to treat as one universal number copied from a single screenshot.
Use the current match display as your reference. A guide that prints an exact total without a version or lobby size can be misleading even if the number was correct for the author’s session. The developer has not supplied a complete public scoring formula in the update notes checked for this page.

The documented player-count changes
| Mechanic | Confirmed change | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Mischief requirement | Reduced when fewer students are present. | October 19 |
| Teacher stamina | Recovery associated with captures in larger groups; a later announcement describes extra stamina per capture. | October 19 and 21 |
| Item spawning | Probabilities adjust according to student count. | October 19 |
| Rescuing captured students | Takes longer when more students are in the match. | October 16 |
These statements explain the direction of the balance changes. They are not enough to calculate an exact multiplier for every possible group.
One confirmed scoring interaction
Demo 0.1.7 added mischief value when a balloon hits the teacher. That makes balloons a documented scoring interaction, rather than merely a cosmetic object. The notes do not state the award per hit or whether any additional conditions change it.
When learning the game, separate an action’s visible result from its score contribution. A dramatic distraction and a scoring action are not automatically identical. Check the match feedback before assuming that repeating the loudest prank is the fastest route to the student objective.
How to compare two lobbies fairly
If you want to discuss balance with friends, record at least the date or build, the number of student players, the displayed target and the available room. Then describe the result. A two-student test and a crowded class may differ in several rules at once.
Change one factor before comparing again. Keeping the same room while changing group size tells you more than changing role, classroom, item selection and population together. This is a suggested comparison method; we have not run a controlled balance test or derived hidden equations.
The same caution applies to rescue timing and item availability. A remembered number from an early demo may have been changed by the October patches.
Planning around the rules you can see
For students, think about how much risk your remaining objective requires rather than chasing a score from someone else’s lobby. For teachers, do not assume stamina behaves as it did before the capture-related changes. Both sides benefit from reading the current match state.
This page intentionally does not declare the game permanently teacher-favored or student-favored. Official patch notes establish that balance changed; they do not establish a win-rate result. Future room customization may create still more variations, so a good guide must keep settings and version attached to its claims.
